Hawkstowe Park
(Melways Map 183 H8)
Entry is gained from Gordon’s Road. Hawkstowe Park is managed by Parks Victoria and is open all year round from 8.00am to 5.00pm except during daylight saving time when the gates are open until 8.00pm.
Hawkstowe Park was once the home of the Le Page family. It was built in the 1850’s and consisted of the homestead, barn and stables.
It was open to the public in 1994 as recreational parkland. The park has a number of electric barbeques, picnic tables, toilets and shelters along with a children’s adventure playground.
There are some lovely walks around the lakes and homestead as well as spectacular views over the Plenty gorge and river.
The homestead now is the home of the Plenty Valley Arts Inc. Art gallery and volunteers of the Mill Park Garden Club tenderly care for the lovely cottage garden surrounding the homestead.
